Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Maintenance Operations is looking to recruit a Senior Engineer Maintenance to join their Mobile Equipment Maintenance (MEM) team at the Paraburdoo mine operations in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
In this role, you will provide technical engineering support, ensuring the safe and reliable maintenance of the heavy mobile equipment fleet. Additionally, you will provide on-going coaching and development to the maintenance team, enabling our people to be their best and continually innovate and challenge the way work is done.
This role provides a great opportunity develop, coach and mentor a team of maintenance professionals. You will have the ability to create value through the management of continuous improvement initiatives and the Defect Elimination programme, whilst developing your operational leadership skills.
Reporting to the Manager MEM key responsibilities for the role will be to:
- Lead and manage site improvement projects to optimise asset performance, reliability, availability and maintainability in conjunction with the central MPE and functions teams
- Ensure maintenance best practices are safely utilised to maximise equipment reliability and minimise the time and cost of repairs
- Review and optimise preventative maintenance planning and scheduling activities
- Ensure cost saving / productivity improvement initiatives are adequately quantified and tracked via the use of internal systems
- Lead and support failure investigations and plant performance analysis
- Liaise closely with PBO MEM Superintendents to ensure alignment of common goals, priorities and service delivery expectations.
- Maintain positive and supportive relationships with relevant site and central stakeholders, specialists and subject matter experts
This position will support the Paraburdoo mine operations working on a fly in, fly out roster 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off from Perth in Western Australia or residential in Paraburdoo.
Where you’ll be working
Located 1500 north of Perth in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, the Paraburdoo Operation commenced iron ore production from the beginning of 1972. It has the capacity to produce 25 million tonnes (MT) per annum. The geographic spread of Paraburdoo Operation consists of Channar (1990) and Eastern Range (2004) feeding the ore into our main hub processing plant. Conveyer belts are our primary mode of transporting crushed ore from one end to the other – longest to be noted is approximately 25 km in length.
Our Mobile Equipment fleet consists of 35x Komatsu 830E Haul Trucks, 7x 2500 & 3600 Hitachi Excavator, 3 x 1850 Le Tourneau, and others.
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A passion and enthusiasm to continually improve safety, production and cost
- A Mechanical Engineering degree
- Significant experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance within the mining industry
- Demonstrated skillset in project management
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams
- An ability to work collaboratively with team members and key stakeholders across the business
- Demonstrated knowledge of RCA techniques and SAP or similar CMMS
- A current ‘C’ Class drivers’ licence
You will be a Perth resident or someone willing to relocate to Perth on a permanent basis and you will have unrestricted and full eligibility for employment within Australian.
