About the role
We are currently looking for a Senior Mobile Maintenance Engineer to work with our diversified fleet of equipment, gain exposure to a wide variety of equipment.
In this role, you will provide tangible leadership and technical assistance and advice on the effectiveness of maintenance and continuous improvement practices and processes whilst developing, coaching and mentoring a team of maintenance engineering professionals. You will also create value through the management of continuous improvement initiatives and the defect elimination programme leveraging off the common approach used across Rio Tinto.
You’ll be part of a supportive team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on an 8 & 6 roster which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.
Reporting to the Manager MEM, you will:
- Coach and mentor the mobile equipment maintenance engineering team
- Drive standardisation and replication of best maintenance engineering practice
- Ensure that cost saving / productivity improvement initiatives are adequately quantified and tracked via internal systems
- Champion the site 5 Why’s continuous improvement process and drive the implementation of reliability and maintenance improvement initiatives
- Provide support to the MEM team with correct processes application for effective critical spares analysis and PM optimisation
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure close alignment and integration with the maintenance engineering functions and to support HSE investigations as necessary
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in mechanical engineering or relevant trade certificate desirable but not essential
- Demonstrated technical maintenance/ engineering experience
- Demonstrated ability to engage with maintenance stakeholders to identify and resolve defects
- Experience working in a heavy mobile equipment workshop
- Strong focus towards safety and safe work practices
- An ability to work collaboratively in small teams, and demonstrate adaptability
- Experience in prioritising and delivering continuous improvement initiatives and projects
- Deep experience and understanding of reliability-based maintenance & practical problem solving
- A manual “C” class driver’s license
