We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Mechanical Engineer reporting directly to the Superintendent – Asset Management within the Surface Engineering team. This team works with the Mount Isa Mines four major processing facilities; the Copper Concentrator, the Lead Zinc Concentrator, the Lead Smelter and the Copper Smelter.

The Role
This role is a full time permanent position based residentially in Mount Isa on a 5/2 | 4/3 lifestyle roster. We offer a competitive salary, 13% superannuation, and other monetary benefits but the real value comes from the development and experiences you gain from this role. The newly formed Queensland Metals Surface Engineering team covers an extensive asset portfolio including two concentrators and two smelters.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Lead a team of engineers and technicians to deliver the “Operating for Reliability” Asset Management Framework whilst providing support to the maintenance, operating and engineering departments,
- Support and development of Engineering solutions to challenges within the business,
- Striving for a culture of continuous improvement including data analysis, root cause analysis and corrective actions systems.
- Providing constructive leadership and promoting a positive workplace culture,
- Regular stakeholder engagement to support the business with asset reliability continuous improvement,
- Working with Engineers and planners to review, develop, implement and align equipment asset strategies across plant areas.
You will have the following skillset and attributes:
- A tertiary qualification – Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in mining industry or other similar large scale operating process plant environment with 10 years+ highly regarded,
- Positive work ethic, leadership skills and customer focus
- High standard of safety awareness and strive to promote a strong safety culture
- Good time management skills with the ability to recognise and allocate priorities
- The ability to effectively interact with all areas of the operations
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Driven to achieve your targets in safe and cost effective manner,
- Willing to take on new challenges and responsibilities
