Our Maintenance team based at our Telfer site are seeking a safety focused and reliable Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide direct support to our internal and external maintenance teams.

In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising both open pits and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.
Who we’re looking for
As our Senior Engineer – Mechanical you will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering and reliability support to the site on mechanical assets. You will not only focus on fixed plant support, but you will also support the wider maintenance team at Telfer.
Other key responsibilities will include:
- Actively supporting safety improvement initiatives and demonstrating safety leadership across the site.
- Identification and delivery of mechanical asset improvement projects.
- Risk identification & mitigation for mechanical assets.
- Optimising cost through Project Edge and diligent project management.
- Providing technical and statutory support to the site.
- Providing scope of works for major mechanical maintenance works and complicated tasks where required.
To succeed and thrive in this role you’ll come from a strong mechanical engineering background, with demonstrated experience working in fixed plant maintenance environments. We are looking for a competent communicator and influencer and someone who is familiar with working in a highly collaborative environment.
Other experiences and skills you will bring are:
- Qualification in relevant discipline with fixed plant maintenance experience (Trade or Degree).
- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer, within a large organisation.
- Extensive experience in an operational-orientated maintenance team.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering performance improvements and positive change.
- Effective interpersonal / networking skills to champion change and instigate and manage improvement projects.
- Experience in cost enhancement, statutory compliance, and audit.
- Sound computer skills (SAP, MS Excel etc).
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and forward-planning skills.
Please note: This is a permanent role that will work on a FIFO (8/6), flying out of Perth.
