The Opportunity
Reporting into our Superintendent - Engineering we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our Maintenance function and provide technical solutions to complex equipment issues.
This technical role is ideal for someone seeking a challenging and influential position, where their work will directly affect plant performance. Key areas of focus within this role will include: milling, classification, gravity concentration, flotation circuits, cyanide treatment, and thickening.
Roster: Full Time FIFO from Perth 8 days on, 6 days off - flying on Fridays.
Site: Telfer Operations- Gold and Copper Mine located in the Great Sandy Desert in WA.
Other Role Accountabilities:
- Being the technical subject matter expert for the operation in relation to maintenance and reliability engineering.
- Provide pragmatic technical support, guidance and coaching to site personnel on matters related to maintenance, engineering, safety, statutory compliance, and technical matters.
- Eligible to be a Statutory Supervisor under Section 26 of the WGS (Mines Regulations WA 2022) and ensure statutory compliance of all assets and activities under your control.
- Assist in the process to identify and monitor key mechanical breakdown risks across site and track the implementation of key risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop scope of works, repair methodology and be responsible for initiatives that will improve plant reliability.
- Delivery of robust, cost-effective engineering solutions, compliant with site and Australian Standards.
- Act as a mentor for graduate engineers and engineers.
- Undertake Visible Safety Leadership in the field to constantly drive a positive change in culture whilst abiding by Newmont’s Code of Conduct.
About You
We are seeking a dynamic individual capable of providing innovative solutions and effectively collaborating with maintenance execution teams.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Mechanical Engineering within the Mining or Heavy Industry sectors, with a history of leading projects and proactively addressing complex problems. Experience in gold/hard rock mineral processing and equipment will be favourably looked upon.
Other Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with crushing, conveying and coarse ore handling is an advantage.
- Accredited Mechanical Engineering Degree as recognised by Engineers Australia
- Eligible for Statutory Supervisors accreditation as per Schedule 26 of the WHS (Mines) Regulations (WA) 2022.
- Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and Legislation
- Eligible to obtain Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets
- Experience leading and managing teams
- SAP experience
- C Class Drivers Licence
