Who we are looking for

As a leader in the reliability team, the Senior Engineer - Mechanical Reliability will support maintenance and reliability services to our mechanical fixed plant and infrastructure assets at our Cadia Mine.

Reporting to the Superintendent - Reliability this rewarding opportunity will play a key role in ensuring availability, utilisation and effectiveness of plant equipment on the surface and underground. It will also see you utilise your expertise towards managing the installation and commissioning of small capital works and plant modifications as required.

Your fixed plant & mining infrastructure maintenance experience will empower you to oversee and deliver highly effective reliability centred maintenance strategies, based on condition monitoring programs and develop asset management plans for mechanical assets.

Additional responsibilities include:  

  • Supervise the administration and maintenance of the key data sources including Plant Performance Management System (PPMS). Asset Condition Risk Database, Loss Elimination Database and other systems to support effective Reliability Engineering.
  • Ensure the reliability team is actively managing equipment performance threats and opportunities through structured regular reviews of plant performance, downtime, condition monitoring and equipment health indicators.
  • Deliver continuous improvement through a structured plant defect elimination process which ensures the root causes of equipment failures are comprehensively understood with suitable investigative techniques such as RCA, 5 whys, strip down reports, etc.
  • Ensure that reliability engineering works are undertaken in accordance with site and industry standards and codes of practice to Engineer out areas of poor performance in equipment and safety.
  • Monitor technical developments, interpret the implications for CVO and take appropriate actions and recommend refinements to improve asset reliability and reduce operating costs.
  • Manage contractors and consultants for safe production and cost efficiency.
  • Lead and Develop a High Performing Reliability Team

To succeed in this role you will be a strategic thinker and be able to develop a high performing reliability team by managing personal workload and effectively delegating tasks within the team while managing performance to achieve targets of the greater business unit.

You will also possess the following:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in a hard rock mining and ore processing operation – Highly regarded
  • Demonstrable understanding of reliability engineering and asset life planning strategies
  • Execution experience in fixed plant equipment maintenance
  • Demonstrated Supervision/Leadership Experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with asset integrity management systems
  • Exposure and knowledge of the NSW WHS (M&PS) Legislation and Australian Standards
