Senior Engineer - Mining

Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mining Engineer to join the Technical Support team in Perth. Reporting to the Technical Support Manager, this role provides engineering expertise to site operations Australia wide.

Our end-to-end mining services encompass mine development and materials delivery, engineering, civil construction, on-site mining services, rehabilitation, and site remediation. The Perth office is strategically located at the Airport (T1/T2) and boasts an impressive staff gym with personal and group training, free secure undercover parking, and electric vehicle charging stations. 

The role

• Provide designs, reserves, schedules and cost estimates for all planning horizons
• Provide drill & blast, dig, dump, haulage and dozer push plans
• Contribute to Mining Engineering and Estimating Community of Best Practice
• Flexibility to travel to sites to provide relief when required
• Compile production statistics and benchmarking reports
• Reconcile performance/design metrics in relation to plan and provision of area reconciliations
• Technical support for feasibility studies and budget forecasts
• Plant selection and provision of estimates for mining tenders
• Ongoing participation in project improvement initiatives
• Support in progress claim audits and forecast preparation for projects
• Participation in Value Engineering workshops and peer reviews
• Coach and mentor less experienced members of the technical team
• Actively contribute to risk assessment and promotion of a zero-harm work environment

The ideal candidate 

• Previous experience in a similar role 
• A tertiary degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
• Highly regarded and proven experience planning and supervising mining operations in the field 
• 5+ years on site mine planning experience across multiple locations
• Experience in coal and metals commodities and surface/underground highly regarded
• Excellent communication and influencing skills
• Mine Planning Software literacy preferably in Vulcan, Deswik and Spry
• Estimation experience using Expert Estimator is an advantage, but training will be provided to the right candidate
