Senior Engineer - Mining

Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our team at Warrawoona. Reporting to the Project Manager, the role’s focus is to provide open cut mining engineering support to the project ensuring fiscal return. 

Warrawoona Gold Project is located in the East Pilbara Goldfields. Macmahon’s contract includes all open cut mining activities until December 2026. 
 

The role focus:

• Tracking and analysis of performance
• Identify opportunities to maximise fiscal return on costs
• Provide engineering, technical and contract support
• Provide of all aspects of engineering work (D&B, design, scheduling, equipment selection) 
• Daily report collation, analysis, distribution and review with production team 
• Review and liaise with site technical teams on client schedules, equipment allocation and expected costs and revenue
• Identify and advise on all contractual and commercial claims related to works
• Assist with the management of survey data and checks
• Finalise the Monthly Progress Claim (incl variations & dayworks)
• Analysis of empirical fiscal returns, and the drivers impacting those returns
• Assist in the development of, and ongoing engagement in, commercial based efficiency improvement projects
• Interpret blast designs, mining schedules and other technical data

The ideal candidate:

• 5yrs+ experience in a similar role
• Tertiary degree - Mining Engineer or equivalent
• Vulcan experience
• Demonstrated understanding of drill and blast designs and techniques
• Short to medium term planning skills
• Familiarity with current mine planning software
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• Current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence
• Unrestricted Quarry Manager’s Certificate is desirable
