About the role

Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Asset Management team is looking to recruit a Senior Process Engineer Fixed Plant to join the West Angelas mine operation in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

You’ll be part of a supportive team, supported by your Leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on and 5/2, 4/3, 9/5 roster which will give you time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life. 

Reporting to the Manager Fixed Plant, you will:

  • Prepare site parameters for business KPI and production targets
  • Prepare and distribute operating strategies and measure conformance to plan
  • Investigate deviations from plan, including identifying and recommending solutions
  • Perform plant troubleshooting, optimisation and continuous improvement
  • Provide expert technical advice to site operations and production teams
  • Be the focal point for all process engineering related queries in the fixed plant setting
  • Manage team deliverables and be accountable for processing engineering actions and incidents

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualification in Process/Chemical Engineering or similar
  • Demonstrated leadership of engineering teams in large scale mining operations
  • Proven experience across dry processing assets within fixed plant settings
  • Knowledge of compiling fixed plant production targets and metrics
  • Radiation Safety Officer qualifications will be highly regarded
  • Experience in using PowerBi and Sharepoint
  • Experience in using SAP
  • A current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence

Where you’ll be working

Located 110km west of Newman, West Angelas operates on a fly in fly out roster from Perth, Broome and Busselton.

West Angelas is a pioneer in autonomous technologies – we were the first site to trial autonomous haul trucks and incorporate autonomous drilling into our operations in 2008, and we continue to have one of the largest mining fleets in the Pilbara.

Our high grade, low phosphorous Marra Mamba orebody is an integral part of the Pilbara Blend, contributing both lump and fines products on around four trains each day. At the West Angelas hub there are state-of-the-art power generation and refueling facilities. These facilities supply power and diesel fuel to the East Pilbara mine sites.

The future is bright at West Angelas with ongoing growth projects at Deposits C and D, as well as additional deposits under study providing enormous opportunities for personal development and career growth.
