Our Maintenance team based at our Telfer site are seeking a safety focused and reliable Senior Production Engineer that is wanting to actively seek improvements in processes and performance regarding to material management.

Operations near and far

In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising both open pits and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.

Who we’re looking for

As our Senior Production Engineer, you will be responsible in pro-actively contributing to the safe, cost effective and efficient production from the Telfer Open Pit through managing Telfer Open Pit production planning duties in the daily, weekly and 3MRP horizon. 

As well as monitor and execute Projects aimed at optimising Open Pit Production Efficiencies.  Directly reporting to the Open Pit Production Superintendent, working within a diverse and inclusive engaged technical services team with one direct report

Other key responsibilities will include (but not limited to);

  • Ensure compliance to all relevant safety standards by engaging in Newcrest safety culture (Newsafe, CHESS, FCCC’s, CCM etc).
  • Consistently comply with Telfer safety managements systems, environmental requirements, internal team safety requirements and other relevant targets.
  • Provide leadership and general technical assistance to the tech services team.
  • Review and advise on weekly and 12wrp production scheduling and implementation to support safe, cost effective open pit production in line with Contract Programme deliverables.
  • Design work associated with longer term goals and accesses including roads, pit shells, ROMS, rehabilitations, and long term dumps including perpetual design and optimisation of short term haul roads and in-pit ramps to achieve optimal haulage routes and increased TMM.
  • Scope and project manage all project work associated with production related activities such as cutback preparation, surface water management plans, and closure needs.
  • Plan mine dewatering activities and oversee in pit infrastructure planning.

We are looking for a strong communicator and influencer and someone who is familiar with working in a highly collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on innovation and best practice.

Ideally, you will also be familiar with the following;

  • Reviewing of QA data – tracking and analysis of dig rates, hang and queue times, and truck and digger utilisations.
  • Engage stakeholders to ensure that conflicting objectives are resolved pro-actively to ensure smooth, safe and un-interrupted production.
  • Implementation and maintenance of procedures, processes and databases for relevant production planning engineering functions.
  • Producing relevant EOM and EOFY material

You will ensure compliance with Newcrest Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Policies & Procedures and encourage others to do so.

Please note: This is a permanent role that will work on a FIFO (8/6), flying out of Perth.
