Senior Engineer - Projects
Work location: Solomon. Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.
Roster: 4D:3R (days), FIFO ex Perth, site based. *Note: the role requires flexibility for shut coverage including extended rosters and nightshift, on an as-needed basis
Summary:
Reporting to the 'Superintendent Projects and Capital', the 'Senior Engineer - Projects' is responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to deliver a portfolio of brownfield sustaining and replacement capital projects across the Solomon fixed plant. Project values are typically in the range of $100k to $5M and are run across the Firetail and Kings Ore Processing Facilities, Stockyards and Train Load Out. The team is responsible for the full project lifecycle, from concept and business case development, through to final commissioning and handover.

This role would suit a person with demonstrated excellent leadership skills, strong experience in managing fixed plant improvement projects, and who thrives in a site-based environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leadership of a multi-disciplinary site projects team - Manage and mentor team to deliver multiple concurrent projects, safely and meeting business requirements. Facilitate training and development for team members
- Project portfolio management, cashflow forecasting and tracking
- Development of 2-year, 3-year and 5-year capital plan
- Monitor and govern project performance, controls and deviations
- Ensure adherence to the FMG Project Management framework over full project lifecycle, from problem definition through to execution, handover and close out
- Contribution to the FMG Field leadership programme, safety initiatives and well-being of all others by actively understanding, identify and addressing observations throughout all aspects of the project lifecycle
- Project Management / Lead duties, to support team as required
- Project scoping, option development, business case development, including capital estimating, capital Expenditure Requests
- Manage and drive successful project outcomes in terms of HSEC, schedule, cost and quality
- Manage consultants, contractors and suppliers to achieve project deliverables
- Work with weekly and shutdown planning teams to plan and schedule works through SAP and FMG work management applications
- Manage execution works in both online and offline environments
- Troubleshooting and commissioning
- Maintain project documentation in an organized and structured way
- Ensure operational readiness through project closeout tasks, including Master Data and maintenance strategies
- Stakeholder engagement and presentations
Qualifications and skills required:
- Tertiary qualified with strong project and portfolio management experience
- Project Management qualification would be highly regarded
- Excellent leadership skills, demonstrated experience leading a team
- Experience in similar role within a mining fixed plant environment would be highly regarded
- Manual C Class Drivers Licence
- Proficient in SAP
- Strong safety focus
- Fantastic communicator, can-do attitude, easily develops strong working relationships, is highly organized, proactive, enthusiastic, takes ownership, able to work autonomously, strong stakeholder engagement, drives continuous improvement
