About the Role

Reporting to Superintendent Short Term Scheduling, this role will see you seeking opportunities in the long-term plan that provide optimal results for the mine. The Senior Scheduling Engineer will play an instrumental role in the development of Scheduling Specialists and Scheduling Engineers through coaching and mentorship. This position will have substantial opportunity to be at the forefront of scheduling improvement at Olympic Dam, as the deployment of Deswik Ops commences in the coming months for the Short Term scheduling horizon. Working with stakeholders to ensure smooth transition from current platform to this tool and upskilling of current onsite personnel. This position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on an 8/6 roster, with residential, DIDO or FIFO options available. In this role you will:  

  • Lead the team to generate a sustainable 2 week rolling mine schedule with a focus on compliance to the 3 month rolling plan;
  • Coach the team to identify and manage risk to the mine plan from a safety and productivity perspective
  • Be a safety leader, demonstrating your commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility
  • Liaise with operational Superintendents and Coordinators to reflect change in site set up requirements & procedures;
  • Assist with the construction of planning inputs to be used during Forecast/ Budget;
  • Monitor execution of the week 0 schedule to drive compliance, and maintain focus on critical path activities;
  • Identify functional capability gaps and drive improvement;
  • Provide feedback to Planning and Engineering functions to improve future execution plans, designs, schedules and forecasts;
  • Build and maintain close working relationship with Engineering sub-functions.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following:

  • Mining Engineering degree or similar
  • Minimum 5+ years mining experience and detailed understanding of the underground mining cycle;
  • Experience in sub level open stoping mining method will be advantageous
  • Previous supervisory or scheduling experience;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite, Deswik CAD, Deswik Sched and Deswik Ops, SAP, Mining & ERP software will be highly advantageous.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different work groups and proactively engage with a range of stakeholders;
