About the Role
Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, the Senior Short Term Planning Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to mine operations in the short-term planning horizon, enabling the site to provide an increasingly safe, reliable and cost-efficient operation. This is a local position that requires you to relocate or live in the regional NSW area of Gunnedah.
What You’ll Do
- Actively manage the preparation of the short-term forecast with consideration given to risk (safety, business, operational)
- Responsible of the monthly, weekly and daily plans and schedule, with a focus on continuous improvement through mine planning
- Ensure production Monthly plan is met through effective planning, scheduling and coordination of activities relating to the mining fleets
- Liaise with site technical services managers, superintendents, engineers, maintenance team and operational teams and other mine site personnel
- Supervise and provide mentoring to mining engineers, ensuring their outputs adhere to business goals
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety through leadership in the workplace
What You'll Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar
- 5 years’ experience in open cut coal mine engineering
- Multi-seam coal open cut experience (Desirable)
- Experience using mine planning & scheduling software (Vulcan, Gantt Scheduler, Spry)
- Excellent communication and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Well-developed verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Skilled in hazard identification and responsive to safety issues
