Rio Tinto’s Pilbara Iron is looking to recruit a Senior Engineer, Structural Integrity Program Lead who will support the strategic development of the portfolio to effectively provide a long-term plan in alignment with the business priorities. It is a role that involves large stakeholder management; therefore, it is a good opportunity to influence people in all levels of the organisational structure. The role includes technical knowledge in the structural field with capability to develop reports using data management. The role has a focus on developing and enhancing relationships with stakeholders across Rio Tinto Iron Ore.

 Reporting to the Superintendent, Structural Integrity, key responsibilities for the position will be to:

·         Support of the strategic management of the Structural Integrity portfolio aligning with the risk profile accepted by the business by developing 5YP and 2YB

·         Adhere to Program governance - strategic alignment with the Capital Framework from initiation to closure

·         Provide technical expertise to support delivery teams on the best approach to successfully execute under safety requirements

·         Maintain good understanding of safety practices during all the projects phases

·         Develop reports to be delivered at different levels of the organization

·         Implement standardised process to manage the structural integrity portfolio across the regions

·         Undertake data analysis of trend for cash, schedule, quality and safety performance

·         Assist with the development, review and approval of the Tender packs, and final designs reviews

·         Engage with key site stakeholders to ensure understanding and support of the program

·         Assist with the tender evaluation, clarifications to Contract Award

·         Assist in front-end planning of projects with all stake holders and the review of deliverables

·         Provide initiatives that support effective management of resources

·         Manage the program’s lessons learned and updating standard documents to reflect these learnings

·         Drive continuous improvement and productivity

About you

You will be a tertiary qualified Structural or Mechanical Engineer with extensive knowledge of structural integrity gained through hands on application within a large-scale mining environment.  With proven technical capability, your confidence in Project Management delivery will have been developed over several years of mining industry experience and you will have proficient skills in MS Project, Primavera P6, Excel, BI reports and similar.

This permanent position will be based in Rio Tinto’s Central Park city office in the Perth CBD working Monday to Friday with flexible working arrangements.
