About the role:
The position provides technical environmental operational support including the implementation of corporate governance, risk management and compliance processes to support Peabody Australia’s mining operations to achieve compliance and continuously improve environmental stewardship.
The role will require some domestic travel to various sites (QLD and NSW).
Primary duties:
- Support development and maintenance of Peabody Sustainability Framework.
- Assist site environmental management teams with environmental monitoring, reporting, compliance and mapping (GIS experience desirable).
- Support the implementation of Peabody Environmental Governance, Risk and Compliance programs.
- Liaise with and advise internal stakeholders across the business to ensure environmental compliance at all times.
- Draft and review environmental compliance documentation including, licence amendments, management plans, Estimated Rehabilitation Cost estimates, Rehabilitation Management Plans and other documents required by operations and the corporate office.
- Support the development and delivery of Peabody corporate reporting requirements for environment, rehabilitation, and sustainability, both internal and external, including the delivery of rehabilitation inventory reports, monthly and annual environmental scorecards.
- Coordinate Australian environmental compliance data, including the maintenance of Peabody’s Environmental Compliance Database, training of relevant personnel and reporting of non-compliances to relevant internal stakeholders.
- Additional support as required by the business from time to time.

About you:
- Tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Applied Science, Environmental Engineering or other suitable qualification.
- Knowledge of environmental legislative compliance and interpretation – the ability to read, understand, and comply with legislation (Desirable -QLD & NSW)
- The ability to communicate well at all levels of the organisation, with excellent verbal & written skills.
- Development, implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation and environmental monitoring programs
- Use & Application of GIS systems (desirable)
- Project & contractor management experience
