Our Cadia operation in ENVIRONMENT is now recruiting for the position of SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISOR – MONITORING

Cadia is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for  

Reporting to the Superintendent – Environment, the Senior Environmental Advisor will coordinate, schedule and deliver on all monitoring required for compliance, due diligence and where required ad hoc and planning approvals. This will include the development of templates, the implementation of best practice and compliant monitoring activities, and the execution of safe monitoring program.

Additionally, the senior will provide technical expertise in the development and delivery of current and future monitoring requirements, contractor management and capacity building for team members.  This role includes responsive and reactive management, resource management and data management and integrity.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the monitoring team for all environmental and compliance-based obligations (including, but not limited to dust, blasting, noise, water)
  • Identify resource requirements (people and equipment) to meet monitoring requirements that are known and requested by the business as needed.
  • Manage and communicate the monitoring schedule.
  • Support and provide input into the design and delivery of the strategies, frameworks, policies and practices for the workstream.
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives, implementation plans and outcomes.
  • Coordinate data provision for internal and external agencies by ensuring data is available, reliable and provided on time.
  • Understand monitoring compliance requirements in a NSW legislative context.
  • Develops and builds the capacity of others in monitoring software programs

The ideal candidate will be structured and well organised, with demonstrated time management skills and be able to communicate and liaise with a variety of stakeholders.

You will also possess the following: 

  • A Bachelor of Environmental Science or Engineering (Environmental) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing field studies and/ or environmental impact statements.
  • Practical knowledge of environmental monitoring especially air quality and noise
  • Demonstrated capability in operating and maintaining an environmental management system, environmental risk registers and management plans.
  • Sound understanding of managing environmental compliance in plant operations and project execution.
  • Incident investigation, auditing skills, data analysis and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Understanding of NSW planning and regulatory framework for State Significant Developments
