Senior Environmental Specialist- Social Surrounding
Work Location: Fortescue Centre, East Perth - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
Our environment team is growing and looking for Senior Environmental Specialist- Social Surrounding to join their team in the Perth office. Reporting to the Principal Environment, the role will have a specific focus on the data collection of biological and environmental data supporting our social surrounding assessments. With a proven track record designing and implementing ethnobotanical and ethnozoological assessments, environmental data collection (dust, noise, vibration, visual impact assessment) in the Pilbara Region, you will lead this factor stream across our project portfolio.
Pivotal to the role is to work in close collaboration with the Heritage team and as such, experience with project management and stakeholder engagement is an integral part of the role
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and managing the collection of data supporting the assessment of the Social surrounding factor in projects with a range of complexity and scale
- Undertake technical reviews
- Provision of advice on the relevant regulatory framework
- Mentoring junior staff and assisting with their professional development
- Building relationship with the academia, industry and regulators
- Writing technical reports and Scope of Work
Education and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in environmental sciences or related disciplinesPost- graduate qualifications are highly regarded
- 10 + years experiences in working across the industry, academia and consulting
- Excellent understanding of WA regional ecosystems and State/Commonwealth regulatory framework
- Experience in undertaking environmental impact assessments
- Experience in project management,
