Senior Finance Advisor / Finance Business Partner – Global Procurement

About the role

Rio Tinto Procurement controls $16bn of purchasing globally and is one of the key pillars of our new Commercial 2.0 structure: Buy / Move / Sell / Enable. We are looking for a Finance Business Partner to join the Commercial Finance team and support Global Procurement to deliver our Buy pillar objectives.

Based in Perth and reporting to the Global Procurement FBP Lead, this role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional with the passion and desire to drive planning and performance management at a large, dynamic and complex business, with proven engagement and influencing skills and highly demonstrated ability to run financial analysis, planning processes and to identify opportunities to deliver results.

In this role, you will:

Contribute to the development of Procurement strategy, planning and execution

  • Provide management with relevant, detailed, accurate and timely analysis and counsel to influence and shape strategic priorities
  • Support the planning process to execute our strategy

Support Procurement performance management and cost discipline

  • Proactively drive financial analysis and cost discipline and influence outcomes through providing insightful analysis
  • Support the evolution of performance management processes and forward-looking KPI’s – tracking key value drivers that align to Commercial and Group objectives

Partner with the business to drive value delivery and improvement initiatives

  • Build rapport with a variety of senior stakeholders in Procurement, Commercial and across Finance including Controllership, Treasury, Tax and Risk
  • Drive initiative tracking, reporting and development of valuation methodologies to measure Procurement’s value delivery and support development of new initiatives

Optimise Finance Business Partner processes and practices

  • Strongly exhibit Rio Tinto’s value for continuous improvement and excellence, helping to optimise FBP practices that contributes to Procurement success

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: 

  • ·        Bachelor and/or professional qualification e.g. MBA, ACA, CPA
  • ·        7 years + significant finance and commercial experience within a global organisation
  • ·        Experience effectively managing  and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders
  • ·        Analytical and strategic forward-thinker
  • ·        Demonstrated leadership abilities with capacity to work autonomously
  • ·        Expertise across a full range of standard business and finance tools (SAP, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, etc.)
  • ·        Strong capability to effectively prioritise and possess excellent organisational skills

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • ·        Experience working with Rio Tinto’s finance processes and systems (e.g. SAP and HFM)
  • ·        Procurement experience reflected in understanding of procurement practices and performance metrics, however not essential
