Senior Finance & Funding Analyst
Work location: Perth, WA
Roster: Monday to Friday
An opportunity has arisen to join Fortescue Energy’s Funding and Corporate Finance team.
Your role will be to support corporate funding activities across projects and business segments as required, including financial analysis & modelling, and support of all activities relating to structuring and execution of project financings.
The role will be based in Perth with local and global coverage.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform financial modelling and analysis supporting investment decisions for project development and acquisition opportunities. Maintain detailed financial models for each transaction from the start of the development process through the successful closing of the investment and/or financing
- Interact closely with internal project stakeholders to provide valuation guidance throughout the business development process, advising on alternative structures and expected investment returns
- Identify and articulate main project/ business economic and financial risks, advise on appropriate mitigation factors and contingencies
- Explain project economics and risks in review committees, and prepare the financial analysis required for approvers and investment committees
- Support senior team members in advising on commercial agreements, risk allocation, bankability of contracts, and financing alternatives
- Support senior team members in the structuring, negotiating, and execution of transactions
- Support the process for financial partner/ lender selection, including preparing teasers, IMs, and engaging with prospective counterparties to clarify project valuation, risk allocation, assumptions and market perspectives
- Develop and document financing, valuation, and modelling best practices
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or Engineering
- CFA, and/ or equivalent certifications are preferred
- Minimum 5 – 7 years of experience in analysis, modelling, structuring and execution of corporate finance transactions, including project advisory and energy sector experience
- Offshore experience would be an advantage
- Strong communication skills, ability to summarise and present complex funding cases
- Previous participation in M&A or corporate development processes
- Strong analytical skills, capability to drive insights from complex valuation, business, and cashflow models
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment with non-flexible deadlines and calls outside traditional AEST business hours, given Fortescue’s global footprint
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Able to travel regionally and internationally as required
