Title: Senior Fuel Engineer
Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)
Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri)
In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet
Based out our new Hazelmere R&D facility and reporting to the Principal Engineer, we are presently looking for an experienced Senior Fuel Engineer to join the Green Fleet team
Key accountabilities will include:
- Providing Process Engineering support to all hydrogen, and ammonia projects within Green Fleets portfolio in a safe, timely and sustainable manner
- Working in collaboration with the broader Engineering team as well as the project management and workshop execution teams
- Promoting Process Safety through inherent safety in design, subject matter expertise, and technical leadership
- Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets
- Function as a Senior / Lead Process engineer across portfolio of projects through FEED, detailed design, and start-up/commissioning
- Plan, develop, coordinate, and review engineering and project deliverables including technical specifications (e.g. BOD), scopes of work, and process engineering deliverables
- Making design decisions and resolving technical issues
- Mentoring engineers, designers, and drafters
- Ensuring compliance to the project management process and schedule by project owners
- Providing regular updates to the Project Manager including work progress, risks, and priorities
Qualifications and skills required:
- Chemical or Process engineering degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in process engineering
- At least 5 years of experience with detailed design of process systems (sizing and selecting components, PFD, P&ID, H&MB, relief calculations etc…)
- Experience leading or mentoring a process engineering team required
- Aspen Hysys simulation experience required
- Start-up, commissioning, and operational experience desired
- Ammonia and Hydrogen process systems experience desired
- Understanding of key suppliers and components in the market for ammonia and hydrogen systems
- Experience as Lead Process Engineer for HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA
- Clear and calculated decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills including ability to speak up and escalate appropriately
- Hazardous Area design and component selection experience desired
- Ability to work across multiple work fronts in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to adjust to change quickly and adapt to new requirements
- Capable of prioritizing and delivering work in a fast-moving environment
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams
- High commitment to safety
- Experience in preparing detailed scope of works
- Experience participating / coordinating in a purchasing tender process
- Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management process
- Excellent interpersonal awareness with ability to work well in a team
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence
- Results driven, responsible, and accountable
- Skilled in problem solving rapidly
