Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Perth

The position would suit a forward-thinking professional wishing to lever their diverse project experience gained in consultancy within our dynamic and innovative client owner environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and design support across a broad portfolio of domestic and international major projects. Project experience in one or more of the following is essential; Hydropower, Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Dams, Tunnelling, Marine, Foundations.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- Provide technical support to multi-disciplinary teams on hydro, wind, solar, geothermal, infrastructure and port development projects.
- Liaise with, and coordination of, civil engineering consultants in support of desk-top studies, site investigations and geotechnical design elements of major power and green energy developments.
- Provide support to technical and feasibility studies; developed both internally and by external consultants.
- Manage ground engineering risk throughout the project life cycle from inception, through design and into construction.
- Determine appropriate geotechnical solutions, including inputs to project optioneering, and define risk mitigation solutions for the company’s assets.
- Scoping inputs to complex geotechnical site investigations and subsequent interpretation of results, derivation of ground models and assignment of parameters.
- Review consultants feasibility and detailed designs and where necessary challenge these to drive down cost and reduce schedule.
- Undertake geotechnical analysis using technical software such as Slope/W, Seep/W, Rocscience suite, Flac, Wallap, Plaxis etc.

In order to be successful in this role:
Candidates must be able to bring a flexible mindset, challenge traditional thinking, and be prepared to work outside of their comfort zone
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
- The Senior position requires a minimum 8 years’ postgraduate experience in providing technical advice to multi-disciplinary design teams.
- A critical appreciation of the geotechnical risk assessment and management process, including communication of risk to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A solid background in geotechnical engineering with broad exposure to a variety of projects.
- Demonstrated experience in desk-top studies, geotechnical investigations, geotechnical design, preparation of technical reports and construction support services.
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment in collaboration with other like-minded team members and adjacent projects teams.
- Prior experience in a similar role (consultant or client owner) preferably in the renewable energy sector or on large complex civils projects. International experience highly regarded.
- Knowledge of marine geotechnics for port developments highly regarded.
- Ability to interface with civil and structural designers.
- Knowledge of seismic codes and seismic hazard assessments an advantage.
