Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Daisy Milano Gold mine has a rich history spanning more than 20 years of operation, with over 1 million ounces mined to date. With structurally complex quartz-hosted mineralisation, including numerous occurrences of visible Gold, Daisy continues to surpass expectations as the flagship mine of the Mount Monger Operations (MMO). Currently extending to a depth of over 1km, the focus for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer will be to monitor seismicity and ensure ground support controls are to a high standard.

THE ROLE

As Senior Geotechnical Engineer for the Daisy Milano mine, you will be responsible for optimising the safe expansion of mine infrastructure & mining activities by applying your extensive knowledge of rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles. You will take ownership of all site Geotechnical input into stope design, mine planning, ground control planning, auditing and development design. Reporting to the Daisy Underground Manager, you will also provide geotechnical advice and oversight at all other MMO mines, both underground and open pit.

Responsibilities include:

• Implementing and improving standards and procedures in respect to ground stability, ground monitoring and control
• Ensuring geotechnical inspections of mining operations are regularly conducted
• Mentor and guide the Geotechnical Engineer on the opposite panel
• Advising and assisting engineers with recommendations on geotechnical issues
• Supporting the Underground Manager in the effective implementation of the Ground Control Management Plan
• Undertaking Ground Support Audits and providing solutions for addressing issues or concerns
• Take ownership of the seismic monitoring system for the site
• Investigating development and stope ground failures
• Actively participating in planning and production meetings
• Assisting in the preparation of the weekly production plan.

You will have:

• Bachelor of Engineering or Science with a Geotechnical specialisation
• Significant experience in an underground mining environment
• Excellent understanding of statutory requirements of the WA Mining Act and Regulations together with the WHS Act.
