The Role
Aeris Resources are growing, and our Tritton Copper Operations is going to have a technically interesting few years as we extend and expand our operations with new deposits being developed and explored, this will offer underground geotechnical challenges across site.
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer will provide technical support to ensure the mine development and production activities and all active mine areas remain at an acceptable level of risk from geotechnical hazards. Managing this risk will enable the business to meet its long and short-term targets in terms of production and cost.
It is essential you bring extensive operational experience from a similar role within underground hard rock mining. You will be a strong leader with the ability to mentor and coach at all levels.
The successful candidate will be driven by a challenge, collaborative and inclusive to allow them to leverage the departments skillset to achieve excellent results and ongoing improvement.

The Operation
Tritton Copper Operations employs more than 400 people and is in Hermidale in Western New South Wales. Tritton has three underground copper mines (Tritton, Avoca Tank and Murrawombie) and the current mine plan for Tritton extends to FY2030.
Tritton is a key employer within the region and a proud supporter of the community. We are a residential mine that allows you to be home each night. Accommodation support is provided as well as company transport from Nyngan to the operation.

- Ensure compliance with all legislative and statutory requirements, as well as internal company management standards
- Managing and coordinating all geotechnical activities and requirements on site
- Providing key geotechnical input into mine design, planning and daily activities
- Providing geotechnical support to mining engineers, geologists and operations personnel
- Reporting and undertaking effective business improvement and risk management activities.
- Liaising closely with all operational and technical teams to ensure compliance is maintained with regards to costs and productivity for delivering mining physicals
- Relevant experience in a similar role in an underground metalliferous mine
- Tertiary qualified Geotechnical Engineer, Geologist, Mining Engineer, or Civil Engineer
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Competent user of relevant mining software
- Experience in bulk mining methods
- Remnant mining experience
- Experience in backfilling methods such as cemented rock fill (CRF) and paste fill as well as practical knowledge of backfill instrumentation.
