About the Role
- Exciting opportunity to develop your career at a large scale bulk mining operation with significant geotechnical challenges.
- You would be employed on a 7:7 roster and work out of Leinster WA
- There are excellent rewards on offer including a generous remuneration package including 12% superannuation and a range of company benefits – including BHP share scheme etc.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to provide front end technical input into a large, long life nickel operation. You will receive exposure to a vast range of geotechnical challenges and a rare opportunity to experience various Sub-Level Caving and Block Caving mining methods.

The main accountabilities will include:
- Lead the geotechnical projects team, providing input into the design of life of mine monitoring systems for sub-level caving and block caving.
- Geotechnical projects to advance the current geotechnical knowledge, applying a continuous improvement mindset to optimise the geotechnical practices utilised in various underground mining areas.
- Project work associated with the design and optimisation of new underground and open pit orebodies.
- Undertaking geotechnical trials associated with new technologies, operational improvements ground support trials.
- Geotechnical analysis and performance assessments associated with project work.
About You
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:
- A degree (bachelor or higher) in Geotechnical, Mining, Civil or Geological Engineering. Relevant training and industry experience will be considered.
- Solid geotechnical experience in underground hard rock mines. Caving exposure highly regarded.
- Demonstrated track record of involvement and achievement in successful projects working as both an individual and team member.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficient in mining and geotechnical software (preferably Deswik, RocScience, IMS).
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to significantly contribute to a high performing team.
