Senior Health and Safety Advisor
Work Location: Iron Bridge - Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth or Wednesday to Wednesday
As part of the Iron Bridge team, you will be responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and coaching of safety management systems to ensure continual improvement in a dynamic mining and projects operational environment.
Key to the success of this position will be the ability to develop good interpersonal relationships with workers on all levels of the operation and the organisation, furthermore personal commitment, competence, consistency, reliability and a practical approach are crucial elements of this role.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Engage with leaders and frontline workers to provide advice in achieving the objectives and execution of strategic plan for health and safety
- Provide health and safety support to peorational projects and resource definition drilling primarily, and other areas of Iron Bridge as required
- Ensure leaders and team members are provided with coaching and mentoring to achieve confidence and competence in safety compliance, assurance activities and are proactive in identifying and managing risks
- Participate in the control of identified hazards where appropriate
- Provide assistance, coaching and guidance in the investigation of incidents
- Participate in safety inspection and assurance processes, inclusive of internal auditing and contractor audits
- Active involvement in the Fortescue contractor management process such as mobilisation activities including risk assessment workshops, pre-mobilisation and documentation scope reviews
- Facilitation of risk assessment workshops and reporting of actions and next steps required
- Verification of controls and exposures in the field, identifying opportunities for improvement and escalation of gaps
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of health and safety initiatives and statistic reviews and reporting
- Provide administration activities and support for Fortescue’s health and safety management systems and procedures and programs
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5 years minimum experience demonstrated in mining, mobile maintenance, construction, drilling or similar industry is essential
- Relevant Occupational Health & Safety qualifications – Diploma or Certificate IV WHS, Investigation and Auditing
- Demonstrated experience in health and safety risk management frameworks
- Demonstrated high motivation and output under minimal supervision
- Experience in procedure development and safety management improvements
- Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence or equivalent
- Strong ability to advise and source information on Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations and relevant codes of practice (Desirable)
- Experience in ICAM investigations (Desirable)
- Experience in data analysis, trending & reporting (Desirable)
- Moderate to advance skills in Microsoft Office suite and electronic systems (Desirable)
