About the Role
We are currently seeking applications for a Senior Health & Hygiene Advisor to join the team at our Centurion underground mine, located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. For more information on Centurion, visit centurionmine.com.au.
Reporting to the Manager, Health, Safety, Training & Compliance the purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate all occupational health and hygiene programs across site. You will play a critical role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of our workforce, supporting safe operations, and maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and Peabody standards.
Duties will include:
- Lead occupational hygiene programs including dust, noise, vibration, and airborne contaminant monitoring
- Conduct exposure assessments and ensure results are analysed, interpreted, and communicated effectively
- Support risk management processes by identifying health hazards and implementing effective controls
- Develop and maintain the site Health & Hygiene Management Plan
- Provide coaching and support to operational teams to ensure best‑practice hygiene behaviours
- Oversee contractor and workforce compliance with CMSH Act/Regs and Recognised Standards
- Prepare accurate reports, dashboards, and recommendations for site leadership
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across health, hygiene, and wellbeing
- Support incident investigations and corrective actions relating to health exposures
- Assist with budget planning and resource allocation for health and hygiene programs

This position is offered on a 9‑day fortnight (Monday–Friday, Monday–Thursday) roster and supports a residential (Moranbah), DIDO, or FIFO lifestyle.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong technical capability, a proactive mindset, and a genuine commitment to workforce health and safety. Ideally, you will possess:
- Qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Health Science, Environmental Health, or a related discipline
- Experience in mining or heavy industry health & hygiene roles
- Strong understanding of QLD CMSH legislation and hygiene standards
- Demonstrated competence in exposure monitoring equipment and data interpretation
- Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective controls
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and coach others
- An uncompromising commitment to safety and continuous improvement
