Senior HR Advisor
Reporting to the HR Superintendent, our Senior HR advisor is a key role in supporting our people on site. With extensive experience in IR/ case management, coupled with current knowledge of effective people management practices, the advisor will partner with key stakeholders across the business to contribute to our business and operational plan and key people initiatives, supporting and affecting good decision making and enabling improvement and efficiency in how we operate.
About the Business
We are Australia’s largest pure-play coal producer generating over $10 billion in Foreign Direct Investment; owning, operating or participating in coal mines across NSW, Queensland and Western Australia. Our Ashton Coal Operations include an underground mine and coal handling and preparation plant, located in Camberwell, in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of NSW. The site operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Bringing broad HR skills and experience to the role, you will provide HR and ER advice and case management to the business, coaching and supporting our people along the way. Working in partnership with the key people leaders across the site, you will drive culture and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Partner with key internal stakeholders to develop our leaders and support our people
- Act as first point of contact for recruitment and onboarding
- Support and implement initiatives to support our team, culture and organisational values
The role is offered on a fixed term (parental leave) for up to 14 months. Part time options will be considered.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidates will model the Yancoal ‘Our Way' behaviours and Values, and understand the importance of safety in our operating context. To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
- Relevant degree in Human Resource/ Business and/or experience in Human Resources;
- Exceptional communication skills, able to engage, inform, educate and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong HR generalist experience, preferably within a similar context
- Experience in implementing a range of HR initiatives in a similar context
- Experience using a range of HRIS as well as MS Office is essential. Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous
