We are currently seeking an experienced and driven Senior HR Business Partner to join our team. Reporting to the HR Superintendent, you will be a part of a highly energetic and motivated HR team.

Owned and Operated by Yancoal Australia, Mount Thorley Warkworth (MTW) is an open cut mine that provides the opportunity to live and work locally. Located 15 kilometres south-west of Singleton in the beautiful Hunter Valley region of New South Wales, MTW relies on both dragline and load haul systems for their continuous operations. The MTW Mine is the largest open cut operation in the region, employing approximately 1,450 people who reside in the local and surrounding communities.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
This is a fast paced and dynamic role, offering the opportunity to develop innovative solutions and deliver people-focused outcomes that recognise and value our people as our most important asset.
As a generalist HR professional, you will bring extensive IR experience, including strong case management, along with the ability to establish effective relationships across all levels of the business. This will position you for success in delivering culture-based initiatives aligned with and promoting our core values and code of conduct.
With no two days the same, this role will also require you to:
- Partner with operational leaders to deliver optimal people outcomes for our business;
- Coach and mentor HR Team members to build team capability.
- Influence and drive cultural change initiatives across the operation.
- Manage, negotiate and influence positive IR outcomes.
- Lead and manage workplace investigations.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidates will foster a ‘One Team’ culture, while promoting the Yancoal Values of People, Safety, Innovation, Integrity and Excellence. To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
- Relevant degree in Human Resource, Business, Law, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years’ HR generalist experience, preferably within mining and/or heavy industry.
- Extensive IR exposure coupled with strong case management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
- Ability to think strategically while effectively managing day-to-day operational demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced computer literacy including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and HRIS systems.
