Senior HSE Advisor
Work location: Gladstone, QLD
Roster: Monday to Friday
Reporting to the Health, Safety and Environmental Lead, as a dynamic and dedicated Health and Safety professional, you will be driving site compliance and improvement in safety, health and environmental activities. As key member in our facility development, construction and start-up teams, you will be responsible, while collaborating with other HSE professionals and SMEs, to implement or support the implementation of all HSE related policies, procedures and controls for our new Electrolyser Gigafactory facility to operate in a safe and complying manner.
Ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with FFI / Fortescue Metals Group Ltd. policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environment requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Promote and drive the desired safety culture, behaviours and values across both factory and construction activities.
- Support the implementation of the factory HSE strategy.
- Leading and contributing to the development of management plans, procedures / processes, guidelines and training materials for the effective implementation of the HSE management system across both factory and construction works.
- Lead and assist as needed for performing operations/construction risk assessments, including JHAs, hazard registers etc.
- Providing coaching and support to operations and construction teams as needed.
- Assist in safety risk assessment studies - including HAZID, HAZOP and SIL determination. Support the tracking of actions through to closure.
- Advise on cost-effective and efficient hazard controls, including critical controls, and risk minimization/mitigation strategies, taking a lifecycle approach.
- Ensuring accurate reporting and maintenance of performance data and KPIs across all stakeholders in both the factory and construction streams.
- Liaising and working with relevant internal and contractor specialists in matters related to health, safety, environment and hygiene.
- Ensure safety standards are applied consistently to all phases of manufacturing, construction projects and contractor engagement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing or related industry is essential.
- Minimum 5 years experience in brownfield construction is desired
- Minimum 3 years experience in environments with robotic, automation and remote systems advantageous
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Australian Standards and applicable international codes as well as all applicable statutory HSE requirements
- Strong demonstrated experience developing construction project HSE Management Plans
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Current Advanced First Aid Certificate with Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy (desirable)
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team-based environment
- Ability to engage, train and coach cross functional teams
- Excellent engagement skills and problem-solving skills
- Good attention to detail and a cohesive, clear writing style
- Ability to operate in a dynamic and challenging environment
- Tertiary qualifications Safety and Environmental discipline, Minimum Diploma in a WHS or Environment discipline
