About the Role
Reporting to the HSE Superintendent, the Hygiene Specialist will provide input into the management of occupational hygiene at both Mt Keith and Cliffs Nickel Operations. This position is offered FIFO on a we are open to discussed ideal roster with successful applicant. Flexible work options will be considered.
In this role, you will be required to:
- Complete the duties of Mine Air Quality Officer and Noise Officer as per WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 and maintain the site Health and Hygiene Management Plans.
- Identify and assess occupational hygiene hazards and provide advise on suitable control strategies.
- Conduct exceedance investigations and reports them to Registered Managers and to the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, via Safety Regulation System (SRS).
- Oversee the Respiratory Protection Fit testing and Hearing Protection Fit Testing program as well as other Health Surveillance Requirements.
- Manage hygiene monitoring programs. Approve samples and complete QA/QC checks.
- Conduct qualitative exposure assessments, health risk assessments and control assessment tasks.
About You
To be successful in the Hygiene Specialist role you will have a genuine desire to help people achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes; combined with a clear understanding of the role that the resources sector plays in health, hygiene and wellbeing management of our most important asset – our people.
You will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene or similar / related field.
- Strong understanding of the occupational health and hygiene risks associated with Mining & Concentrators.
- Sampler, Ventilation Technician / Officer and approved Noise Officer.
- Understanding in health surveillance including lung function and audiometric testing.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
