Role Title: Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer

Roster: Monday to Friday
Fortescue Future Industries are looking for a Senior Instrumentation and Control Engineer with experience in instrument, controls and communication system design, functional safety and cybersecurity management on process plant or heavy infrastructure projects. In this role you will provide technical input to the design and operation of our renewable energy, green hydrogen and ammonia business.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Performs high-level instrumentation and control system engineering activities.
- Define the scope and then review and approve detailed technical studies for green power generation, transmission and process plants & utilities.
- Assist in the preparation of project estimates.
- Evaluate concepts and develop designs for generation, green hydrogen and ammonia process plants and utilities.
- Work with OEM suppliers to develop optimal control system designs for large multisite process and generation facilities.
- Input into plant layout design to ensure sufficient consideration is given to instrumentation and control requirements.
- Review of and input to P&ID’s, preparation of narratives, logic diagrams, functional block diagrams, instrument data sheets, etc.
- Responsible for the development of functional safety management framework and management of Contractors compliance (e.g. audits, verification calculations, etc.).
- Responsible for the development of cybersecurity lifecycle management framework and management of Contractors compliance.
- A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements in particular understanding engineering principles and communicating a range of Engineering concepts across a range of expertise.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Electrical Engineering / Control & Instrumentation degree (Member of Engineers Australia or eligible for membership as MIEAust).
- Minimum 10 years post qualification design experience in control, communications and instrumentation design, with a thorough knowledge of Australian and International standards, methods and best practice.
- Experience in Functional Safety Design and Management (IEC 61508 and IEC 61511). Current TUV or Exida Functional Safety Engineer level certification is preferred.
- Experience in Cybersecurity Design and Management
- Experience in overseeing EPC design activities and project delivery
- Experience in process plant design, Integrated Control and Safety Systems, SCADA system integration.
- Experience in fire and gas system design and equipment selection.
- Experience in design for Hazardous Area installations.
- Experience with training/mentoring junior engineers.
