As part of the continued focus on innovation and change, we are seeking a Senior Backend Developer to join the Integration Platform team. This is a key role in designing and developing real time communication paths between both business information systems as well as industrial & manufacturing control systems, IoT devices and other real time systems.

We are looking for a highly skilled programmer who is proficient in backend development and is able to solve problems using out of the box thinking.  You will be required to see out a project from conception to final product, requiring good organisational skills and attention to detail as well as help to improve the skills of our other developers through mentoring.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the development practice, and collaborate to set standards and best practice
• Provide mentoring to other developers
• Work with the architecture practice to set designs, patterns and ways of working
• Be passionate about integration technologies, patterns and development
• Have a problem-solving mindset and an affinity for continuous learning
• Deliver technical designs, standards and documentation
• Software development with a focus on microservices
• Deliver to agreed deadlines in an agile delivery environment
• Collaborate with all stakeholders both across the business and operations
• Seeing through a project from conception to finished product, including, code reviews and handover to support

Qualifications and Experience:

• Developer with over 10 years’ experience in software development languages (primarily C# .NET & Java/Typescript)
• Familiarity with developing for Linux & Containerisation (Docker)
• Experience with integration patterns and design
• microservices
• Kafka & Event based integrations
• MQTT and real time data
• REST APIs
• SQL and NoSQL DBs (ie Snowflake, MongoDB & DynamoDB)
• SparkplugB
• CI/CD pipelines
• Automated unit/application tests and frameworks
• Experience in UI (React, etc) would be beneficial.
