ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on a 9-day fortnight, based at our Boddington Bauxite Mine, which is located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour).
As the Senior Specialist Land Agreements, you will be responsible for coordinating mining agreements and approvals to support short-term, medium-term, and tactical mine plans for the Worsley operation while ensuring that existing obligations and commitments related to land access agreements are met.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Negotiate land access agreements and prepare business justifications in collaboration with the Mine Development Planning Superintendent, ensuring compliance with South32's values and relevant legislation
- Develop and manage the annual Land Access and Buffer Management strategy, supporting integrated mine plans and operational buffer management
- Ensure Land Access activities adhere to South32’s internal standards and governance, and manage Mining Act and Local Government approvals for new mining areas
- Support the development and monitoring of Land Management budgets, manage expenditures, and identify continuous improvement opportunities for land access and management activities
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Strong in business, legal, and commercial matters, with proven skills in developing business cases and achieving commercial outcomes
- Proven experience in successfully negotiating land access with third parties
- Expertise in interpreting Land Access Agreements, Mineral Titles, State Agreements, and related legislation
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills for collaboration and relationship-building across teams
- Sound presentation, report and document writing skills
Qualifications for this position are:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Commerce, Engineering, Geoscience or Science or related field
