The Macmahon WAC Head Office is located near Perth International Airport, T2. The WAC Head Office hosts Macmahon’s centralised support services and operates as the centre of gravity for the wider Australian business. 

Macmahon Holdings are seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our motivated and results driven finance team as a Senior Management Accountant supporting the Underground division.  Reporting to the Finance Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Set and communicate the monthly reporting timeline to the divisional managers (commercial and operations).
  • Prepare, review and analyse operations monthly results including providing monthly management accounts to the Project Team, Commercial Managers and General Manager.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and key contacts in relation to project cost controls and commercial related matters.
  • End of month close and completion of all month end journals for allocated projects.
  • Review and approve journals posted by management accountants.
  • Undertaking financial analysis and provide advice in relation to financial matters.
  • Review of business unit reporting submissions, translation of data to dashboards and graphs for consistency within presentations.
  • Consolidation of the Underground Business Unit group results, review of individual project results, reconciliation to group consolidation by legal entity.  
  • Providing insightful commentary on the operations within the month end reporting pack
  • Preparation and review of month-end reconciliation.
  • Assisting with the half-year and year-end audits including providing support for the compilation of the data required in the annual report.
  • Assisting in the yearly budget preparation and quarterly reforecast including uploading forecast and budgets into systems.
  • Review the project budgets/forecast submissions and discuss commentary with the General Manager Underground.
  • Systems and process improvement.
  • Provide mentoring and support to all management accountants, including 3 direct reports.
  • Ad-hoc tasks as required to support the Underground division and the business.

About you

  • Minimum 6 years' accounting experience with exposure to medium sized public companies
  • Strong management accounting skills 
  • Good communication skills – able to interact with both finance and operational stakeholders
  • Advanced excel skills and strong attention to detail
  • Team player – works as part of a team to deliver results on time at a high standard
  • Ability to critically assess outputs to provide value-add to business and management.
  • Experience within mining and resource industry preferred
