Our Opportunity

 

Work Location: Perth Office - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people. Ad hoc site travel as required.

 

 

Roster:  Monday to Friday

 

 

Fortescue is building the next wave of innovation in mining, bringing together deep operational capability with artificial intelligence (AI). This role leads the AI strategy and product delivery for mine planning, helping Fortescue make faster, higher-quality decisions from one-week plans through to Life of Mine strategy.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Set and deliver the long-term product strategy and roadmap for AI and software solutions focused on mine planning
  • Partner with planning, geology, exploration, resource development, land tenure, approvals, finance, operations and senior leaders
  • Translate planning workflows, mining constraints and strategic trade-offs into practical product strategies
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver decision-support products from concept through deployment
  • Ensure products are scalable, supportable and integrated into core planning systems and datasets
  • Manage high-impact planning risks and decisions using OKRs and value models
  • Hire, develop and lead high-performing AI product teams.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • 10+ years’ experience in mine planning, from short-interval planning through to Life of Mine planning
  • Strong understanding of schedules, reserves and resources, fleet and plant capacity, grade control, blending and haulage
  • Practical experience with mine planning software, geological models, spatial data and planning data ecosystems
  • Proven experience deploying software, analytics, optimisation, digital or AI-enabled products into operational workflows
  • Experience leading senior specialists or cross-functional teams and delivering technology-enabled change
  • Ability to connect mine planning with exploration, approvals, infrastructure, finance and corporate development
  • Knowledge of Agile, OKRs, design thinking, DevOps or modern product development practices
  • Strong commercial acumen to quantify planning trade-offs, ROI, production, cost, NPV, risk and optionality
  • Master’s degree, MBA or equivalent senior technical, commercial or leadership experience.
