Senior Manufacturing Project Engineer - Energy Storage
Work location: Dawson Rd., Perth Airport
Roster: Monday to Friday
Key responsibilities:
Engineering Design and Support:
- Designing and engineering battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Providing technical leadership on battery storage and Power Conversion systems
- Sound knowledge on grid connection studies
- Interfacing with internal stakeholders (project managers, electrical and instrumentation engineers, procurement) and external stakeholders to ensure consistent communication
- Preparing and reviewing electrical schematics, cable calculations, determining quantities, selecting equipment and specifying all components to provide the optimal configuration
- Undertaking system studies and modelling
- Providing technical support during manufacturing / execution design
- Identify improvements to products – including, but not limited to function, performance, component selection, and cost. Produce justification for change and develop action plans. Oversee all activities related to completion of change
Quality:
- Develop functional testing requirements for products/components and implement testing program as needed. Identify clear performance guidelines
- Ensure products maintain compliance with performance requirements and relevant standards
Supplier Engagement:
- Establish and maintain contacts with suppliers for technical support, to improve material quality, and/or to decrease costs
- Obtain and evaluate prototype products, and develop technical tests as required
- Support the supply chain department with analysing quality issues, sourcing alternative components, and reporting
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years in electrical industry with production and manufacturing exposure
- Experience with Grid scale inverters and battery modules
- Developed knowledge of successful tendering and selection of equipment and technology
- Experience managing external contractors and proven manufacturing experience
- Experience in development of product documents for the complete lifecycle
- Awareness of the market and on-going innovation in technology and research
- Knowledge of industry design and construction standards, practices and specifications for BESS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High attention to detail
- Computer skills including SAP experience, proficiency in complete Microsoft Office suite, MS Project and Access advantageous, AutoCAD or equivalent preferred
- Highly organized with a focus on timeliness and the ability to meet deadlines amidst changing priorities and activities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving and project management skills
