Role Title: Senior Materials Engineer

Work Location: Perth

Roster: Monday to Friday

Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Senior Materials Engineer is responsible for providing material selection advice & design for global new/renewable energy projects within the Engineering team.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Project Design Support – Materials, Integrity, Corrosion, Welding engineering & design activities for projects; including Pipelines, Pressure Vessels, Piping, Tanks, Flares, relief etc.
  • Create, review & approve documents to approved specifications, codes & standards
  • Technical assurance during design, construction & operational phases.
  • Assuring technical oversight of Engineering Contractor activities.
  • Provide assurance on paintings, coatings, cathodic protection, and similar activities.
  • Manage multiple contracts with manufacturers, consultants & third-party contractors
  • Managing scoping studies, cost estimates, funding, generate alternatives
  • Review technical deviations and variations
  • Align with Fortescue values and safety culture

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with >10 years’ experience
  • Broad expertise in Materials, Integrity, Corrosion & Welding
  • Knowledge of Renewable Energy projects, pipelines etc. will be an advantage
  • Previous experience in overseeing EPC design activities is preferred.
  • Experience in projects from concept through FEED, detailed design, and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of Australian & international codes, standards & industry specifications.
  • Team oriented and highly self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, planning and logistics skills
