Senior Mechanical Designer – Studies and Projects
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue Centre - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: 5:2 (Monday to Friday) (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)
A fantastic opportunity for a senior-level mechanical designer to join our Engineering and design team to assist in growing the design team's capabilities and produce consistent, high-quality designs for our stakeholders.
This role will initially be offered as a 12-month fixed term position, to support our operations and projects teams.
Key Accountabilities:
- Produce layouts, models and detail drawings of mechanical equipment and process plants and ensure compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure that all project deliverables meet the project requirements
- Communicate with other departments, provide updates, raise issues, and attend team meetings
- Perform checks to ensure the accuracy and consistency of all project drawings and documents throughout the design and detail phase.
- Obtain practical feedback to help continually improve the output of the design office regarding accuracy, quality and presentation of drawings and documents, and assist with the review and adhere to FMG standards and specifications
- Demonstrate a high standard of personal safety and safe design practices
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years’ experience with mechanical equipment and piping design, with a Certification in Engineering Drafting and/or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. (Exposure to: 3D modelling and 2D drafting experience with Bentley Software).
- Understanding of metal fabrication processes is desirable.
- Familiar with Australian and Mining Company Standards
- Leadership skills with a strong ability to effectively communicate, designate and organise
- Ability to work independently and manage own workload and deliverables and ability to problem solve effectively
- Planning, organisational, budgeting, scheduling and coordination skills
