Senior Mechanical Engineer - Studies and Projects
Work Location: Perth - Fortescue Centre - Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: 5:2 (Monday to Friday) (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)
A fantastic opportunity for a senior-level mechanical engineer to join our Engineering and design team to assist in growing the design team's Mechanical Engineering capabilities and produce consistent, high-quality designs for our stakeholders.
This role will initially be offered as a 12-month fixed term position, to support our operations and projects teams.
Key Accountabilities:
- Produce and review mechanical designs for operational, studies and execution projects (Scope, assess and select equipment.) Also create project scopes, project engineering plans and work schedules
- Support longer term planning studies with designs and design reviews
- Assist in developing and continuously improving engineering management systems, plans and procedures
- Review of existing equipment Production Statistics and Equipment Performance for input into studies and projects.
- Assist in defining work, expenditure and the execution of the Mechanical Engineering scopes.
- Providing safety leadership to effectively identify and manage technical risks across Fortescue.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 5+ years fixed plant experience in an engineering and/or projects role with prior experience leading a team
- Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Prior experience with material handling plant design including crushers, vibrating screens, centrifugal slurry pumps, conveyors and chutes.
- Prior experience in conveyor design software, with strong conceptual thinking and analytical focus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus, with Project management experience across Planning, organisational, budgeting, scheduling and coordination of projects & various scopes
- Knowledge of relevant mines legislations and regulations
