Rio Tinto’s Maintenance Planning & Engineering (MP&E) division is looking to recruit a degree qualified Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Cape Lambert Port Operations to provide leadership of a team of Mechanical Engineers (including Graduate Engineering rotations) and Major Works Planners/Project Advisors.
Reporting to the Superintendent MP&E Cape Lambert, key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead, coach and develop a team of mechanical engineers and planning specialists
- Manage a fixed asset maintenance componentisation/capital spares project delivery portfolio
- Contribute to fixed plant asset management processes and principles including engineering design reviews
- Mitigate operational downtime by providing engineering support to maintenance and operations in complex breakdowns
- Improve asset reliability by leading asset capability improvement initiatives
- Support failure investigations and performance analysis
This permanent position will be offered on a fly in, fly out roster from Perth (5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off). Alternatively, for those seeking a truly unique coastal lifestyle being residential in Wickham or surrounds will be an option.
Where you’ll be working
In the Pilbara region of Western Australia, we own a world-class, integrated network of 17 mines, four independent port terminals, a rail network spanning nearly 2,000 kilometres and related infrastructure – all designed to respond rapidly to changes in demand. We are one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of iron ore.
Our port facilities consist of four shipping terminals located on the Pilbara coast at Dampier and Cape Lambert which form an essential part of our logistics process. Each terminal has facilities for train unloading, iron ore stockpiling, product blending and ship loading.
What you’ll bring
To be considered suitable for this position, applicants will have:
- Bachelor qualification in Mechanical Engineering essential
- Proven multi-disciplinary technical team leadership capability in fixed plant asset maintenance and project delivery
- Significant experience in fixed plant asset and/or ports infrastructure maintenance engineering
- Knowledge of asset management principles and processes including whole of life asset cycle delivery
- Experience in large scale mining and resources operations, ideally iron ore
- National Engineering Register/Chartered Engineer credentials with Engineers Australia preferred
- C Class Driver’s License
