The Role
The core role of the Technical Services department is to provide technical support to the Smelter(s) to help them meet their business goals. As a member of the Production, Planning or Projects team, you will be responsible for helping to manage the plant performance, concentrate blending and logistics strategy, or improvement projects aimed at either metal recovery, operating costs, or environmental performance. This position is a permanent residential role, on a standard 5/2/4/3 roster configuration.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading a group of Metallurgists in the delivery of technical support to the Smelter(s) in one of a variety of roles.
- Developing plans to achieve key business objectives.
- Developing and overseeing logistics, plant, or project trials to maximise the profitability of the Smelter(s).
- Documenting and communicating technical improvements in the Smelter(s).
You will have the following skillset and attributes:
- A degree in an Extractive Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in metallurgical industries (pyrometallurgy favourable).
- Understanding of smelting systems and processes and their inter-relationships.
- Experience in leading groups of 3-5 people.
- Ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
