About the role 

This is a permanent full-time role being offered on a 7:7 roster, FIFO Darwin or Cairns or can be offered as residential subject to housing availability.

Reporting to the Superintendent Geological Services, you will be in a leadership role within the Geological Services team with a focus on developing team culture, capability and implementing step-change improvement initiatives within all aspects of the mine geology value chain.

Some of your main responsibilities will include: 

• Ensure the Mine Geology team always operate in a safe and sustainable manner
• Develop and update short term geological models and build modelling capability within the Mine Geology team. You will also work with the GEMCO Resource Geologist to maintain and improve geological model reconciliation processes.
• Deliver ore blend forecasts to enable sustainable delivery of the monthly Full Year Forecast and GEMCO budget
• Ensure effective ore loss and dilution controls are in place and that these metrics are being measured and continuous improvement initiatives are developed
• Develop and supervise ore blending and stockpiling procedures to optimise plant performance and meet budgeted product volumes
• Develop and supervise product blending and ship loading processes to ensure finished stocks are in line with quality specifications
• Work collaboratively with operational and technical teams across site to deliver across the GEMCO value chain

About you

To be considered for the role, you will have:

• Tertiary Qualification / Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geoscience, or relevant discipline
• Significant experience gained in a similar role within Mining or Exploration
• Full drivers’ licence
• Advanced geological modelling skills, preferably Vulcan and Leapfrog - desirable
• Advanced geostatistical/sampling methodology and QAQC skills - desirable
• Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver outcomes that consistently meet or exceed targets
