We are looking for a Senior Mine Planning Engineer – Integrated Mine Planning (IMP). This role offers great opportunity of understanding and influencing the strategic RTIO context. This role broadens exposure to mine planning financial optimisation using various software and techniques. You will be well regarded by wider Mine Engineering team and the team always look up to you for guidance and coaching.
This role is a great opportunity to gain exposure to the entire supply chain in iron ore across all 11 Pilbara sites and what the key value drivers are for an iron ore business. You will interact with iron ore senior leadership to present mine planning outcomes and recommendations.
Reporting to the Principal Mining Engineer you will be:
- Providing 10 year plan/Life of Mine and 5 year mine plan schedule and guidance (Grades, Product mix, pit staging, grade cut-offs and development sequence) as part of our annual Planning cycle and business plan submissions.
- Influencing and guiding mine to market value chain, RTIO Studies, Finance and closure outcomes.
- Assist with Annual Reserves and Resource estimates.
- Progress development of features in the linear programming based mine planning financial optimisation software (Mine, rail and port value chain).
- Accountable for maintaining high standards and improving systems and processes to ensure the success of the mine planning function in RTIO.
About You
This role requires expert level understanding of our mine planning systems and process, as well as good knowledge of the value chain of a mine. Knowledge in Iron ore value drivers is beneficial. You must have demonstrated a high level of motivation and drive throughout your career and have a bias for action and positive outcome for the business.
To be successfully considered for this role you will have the following skills:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
- Strong mine technical skills supported by practical and innovative ways of thinking, and experience in the application of optimisation methods in large scale mining.
- Experience delivering development studies.
- Liaising with multiple stakeholders with proven track record of excellent communication and technical report writing skills.
- Exposure to Ore Reserve estimation.

Where you'll be working
The Integrated Mine Planning team actively encourages and supports work flexibility. This includes workdays, hours and location, in addition to flexible work schedules. This role will be based in at Central Park in Perth CBD, with occasional site travel will be required to maintain effective relationship with stakeholders.
