About the Role

The Senior Mine Scheduling Engineer plays an important leadership role within the Carrapateena Short Term Planning team, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely weekly schedules, drill and blast designs, and ensuring compliance to our production. In this role you will be responsible for leading a team of Mining Engineers producing the short term schedules and production plans. The role is a key interface between the Mine Technical and Mine Operations teams. This position is central to ensuring the mine is working in compliance to its strategic objectives through the execution of priority work in the short term time frame.

This role is based at Carrapateena and is FIFO from Adelaide or Pt Augusta on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster.

In this role you will:

  • Lead a team of Production Engineers and Short Term Schedulers, in all aspects of underground drill and blast and weekly scheduling required for safe and efficient mining.

  • Be responsible for guiding the Short Term Schedulers and Production Engineers to produce high quality plans aligned with site standards, the Production Management Plan, operational needs and schedule requirements.

  • Ensure the mine is working in compliance to it strategic objectives through the execution of the 13-week mine production plan, while maintaining safety performance and cost compliance to budget.

  • Maintain and govern the Production Management Plan to ensure standardised site systems align with industry best practice, and drive compliance to this Plan in our technical designs and their execution.  

  • Identify and drive improvements in production, safety, process and systems.

  • Track and drive compliance to plan, ensuring learnings from variance are understood and embedded into future planning processes.

  • Liaise closely with the Operations Seniors to perform QAQC of the production execution processes, to maintain quality and compliance standards.

  • Review and sign off drill and blast designs and weekly schedules.  

About You

  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience in safety leadership.

  • Experience in mine design, drill and blast, scheduling, and production activities.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent.

  • Solid experience in underground mining. Sublevel cave or block cave experience highly regarded.

  • Completed underground crew work is essential.

  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with multiple internal stakeholders, through supportive and effective communication.

  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in Deswik.CAD (essential), UGDB and Sched (desirable).

  • Valid manual Drivers Licence.
