About The Role – Senior Mining Engineer

Reporting to the Manager of Planning and being based in our Newcastle Office, this role will provide a brilliant opportunity to continue challenging work, all whilst being based in a major city.

What You’ll Do

• Develop life of mine plans and Short-term forecast with consideration given to risk (safety, business, operational) and profitability.
• Liaise with site technical services managers, superintendents and engineers in the Life of Mine process well before plans are due to complete plans on time.
• Ensure pit, dump and strip designs conform to Whitehaven's operation approvals and Health and Safety Management System.
• Assist Whitehaven operations in the preparation of the annual budget and Mid-term mine plans.
• Identify areas for technical and business improvement that have the potential to increase productivity and/or reduce mining costs.
• Consolidate and maintain historical performance data for Budget and Life of Mine scheduling purposes.

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar.
• 5+ years’ experience in Open Cut Mine Engineering.
• Coal Underground experience (Desirable).
• Multi-seam Coal Open Cut experience (Desirable).
• Experience in development Life of Mines, Budget and Mid-term schedules.
• Experience using mine planning software (Vulcan, Gantt Scheduler, Spry).
