Senior Mining Engineer

The purpose of this role 

To provide specialised mining engineering support and expertise in the fields of open pit mining operations and contribute to the organizational direction by providing advice to the management on the business risks, technology and best practices.
 
Location - Boddington

This role is based at the Boddington Bauxite Mine located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour). 
Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, you will live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia and still be home each night.

 
Accountabilities   

Primary responsibilities are to:  

•    Develop metrics, processes and strategies to identify inefficiencies in the execution of work and manage the implementation of actions to sustain and improve performance (continuous improvement). 
•    Assist in developing Production budgets.
•    Utilise key performance data to inform decision-making and identifying and acting upon opportunities for increase productivity and efficiency.
•    Lead the execution of production plans (design and rate) in accordance with the weekly schedule, and in line with Well Designed Work principles. 
•    Rigorously apply and continue to review South32’s Risk Management policies principles, tools and investigation methodologies to ensure our people are not exposed to illness or injury. 
•    Lead a small team of diverse and passionate experts.
 
About You   
  
•    Ability to grasp concepts quickly and leverage the skills and experience of key stakeholders to solve problems.
•    Tertiary qualifications in applicable Engineering and/or Science discipline
•    At least 10 years’ experience working in a technical role in mining sector 
•    Proven capability to operate in a complex environment, leading and facilitating diverse teams.
•    Ability to stimulate others through depth of knowledge, influence others as idea leaders and building strong network both within the business

Desirable 

•    Post Graduate qualification in engineering/ management
