Moolarben mine is part of the Yancoal Australia group of thermal and metallurgical coal assets across NSW and Queensland.  Yancoal currently employs over 3,000 people across its operations which provides fantastic opportunities at Moolarben mine for growth, learning and promotion between roles at site and between mining operations in the Yancoal Group.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Mining Engineer to join our Short-term planning team which is currently in an exciting growth phase increasing to deliver up to mine 16Mt of coal per year. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the key role responsibilities include:

• Deliver Short term Dig and Dump Plans for Truck & Excavator operations, Bulk Push, Rehabilitation and other ancillary activities
• Produce accurate and timely Weekly schedules/forecasts
• Daily monitoring of performance and compliance against plan, working closely with the Production team
• Ensure the alignment of mid-term plans with weekly planning activities

Skills and Experience

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline (Civil, Geology, Survey)
• Demonstrated experience in an open pit mining environment (Coal or other) with engineering exposure
• Experience in mine design and scheduling software preferably Vulcan, 3D Dig, and Spry would be advantageous
• Experience in Microsoft products (Excel spreadsheets/databases)
• Well developed verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively
• The motivation and ability to; be positive, be curious, learn, listen, contribute to a ‘one team’ work culture, take on challenges and deliver work to the standard and deadlines required.
