Rio Tinto Iron Ore’s Operations Excellence is looking to recruit an iron ore mining industry experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join their Perth based Orebody Knowledge and Planning (OKP) team to deliver mine productivity.
The Operational Excellence team work across all Pilbara mining operations, the remote operations centre (ROC) and central support teams in Perth. The team is responsible for projects spanning the Pilbara operations ranging from systems, technology and standardisation/process improvement within the mining operations.
Reporting to the Principal OKP key responsibilities for the position will be to:
- Work closely with the operations team to drive improvement projects with a specific focus on safety, productivity, and asset utilisation
- Provide support to the operational superintendents
- Collaborate with internal partners across mining technical services, dewatering, fixed plant, and mobile equipment maintenance to achieve the mine plan
- Provide coaching, mentoring and support to the mine planning engineers and operations teams to ensure truck performance optimisation
- Utilise accurate data analysis to drive cost reductions and efficiencies
- Promote a culture of safety and provide input into critical risk management and incident investigation processes
- Demonstrate the Rio Tinto values of courage, care, and curiosity
This is a permanent position will work Monday to Friday and be based out of the Rio Tinto Central Park building offices in the Perth CBD. There will be flexibility to work from home on occasional days and ad hoc travel to site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
About you
To be considered for this position applicants will have:
- A degree in Engineering (Mining or Civil)
- Site-based mine operational experience essential
- Extensive mining production/project delivery experience
- A solid understanding of mining autonomous haulage systems/truck performance optimisation
- Demonstrated team leadership capability
- Proficient skills in computerised systems including Microsoft office suite
- Current C class driver’s licence
