Daisy Milano is a high grade, narrow vein gold mine, with over 1 million ounces mined in more than 20 years of operation, and a rolling 2-year mine life. With new mining area, Easter Hollows, well underway, Daisy continues to surpass expectations as the flagship mine of the Mount Monger Operations. Daisy boasts structurally complex quartz-hosted mineralisation, including numerous occurrences of visible Gold, presenting a unique challenge within an unusual deposit. Ore is mined using development, long hole stoping and airleg mining methods.
THE ROLE:
We are looking for a motivated and team-oriented Senior Mining Engineer to play an integral part in success of the Daisy Milano mine. Reporting to the Underground Manager and taking day-to-day responsibility of mentoring and coaching the Engineering team, you will develop the mine schedules and ensure weekly and monthly delivery to the mine plan. This hands-on role will play a key part in achieving company production and safety targets, as well as ensuring your team’s compliance with systems and processes. Daisy Milano is a small mine with a close team, where you will play a key role while using a broad range of skills.
Responsibilities will also include:
- Oversee the day-to-day production output of the Mining team
- Effectively mentor, coach and develop Mining Engineers
- Assist with the development of Life-of-Mine (LOM) designs and schedules, budget plans, through to short term designs and 3-Month Plans
- Identify and complete mine infrastructure and optimisation projects as required
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the underground contractor and wider technical services team
- Produce accurate end of month reconciliation reports
- Provide visible safety leadership and drive productivity improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with legislative and statutory requirements, production QA/QC, as well as company safety and environmental standards

You are a self-motivated, proactive person who thrives in a small team environment. You will be able to anticipate business needs and react quickly to ensure production output targets are achieved and continuity of ore production is maintained. You can manage multiple demands on your time with a calm and considered manner, and have excellent interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to inspire others.
This will be supported by the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor Mining Engineering BEng (minimum) or equivalent
- First Class WA Mine Manager’s certificate of competency, or working toward obtaining one
- Previous experience with narrow vein underground gold mining
- Robust understanding of mine planning systems, including exposure to short, medium and long term forecasting
- Strong understanding of mine ventilation systems and statutory mine ventilation requirements
- Proficient use and application of MsOffice suite, and relevant mining software including Surpac, Datamine, EPS and VentSim
- "C" Class Driver’s licence and current Dangerous Goods Security Card
