Job Tasks and Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join our planning team. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, the key role responsibilities include:
- Provide technical guidance for all relevant dig/doze/dump activities.
- Optimise and prepare production schedules for short term implementation (2 weeks) and ensuring alignment with mid term scheduling (12 weeks).
- Preparation of Stage plans and delivery of the 12 week plan on a monthly basis
- Work closely with the Mining department, being proactive in identifying issues, monitoring outcomes and providing solutions.
- Work with other members of the mine planning team to ensure cohesion and alignment between planning horizons to achieve short term and budget objectives.
Skills and Experience
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline (Civil, Geology, Survey)
- Demonstrated 5 years of experience in an open pit mining environment (Coal or other) with engineering exposure
- Experience in mine design and scheduling software preferably Vulcan, 3D Dig, and Spry would be advantageous
- Experience in Microsoft products (Excel spreadsheets/databases)
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively
- The motivation and ability to; be positive, be curious, learn, listen, contribute to a ‘one team’ work culture, take on challenges and deliver work to the standard and deadlines required.
